Founded in 2014 by soprano Lauren Cook and pianist Aleksandra Lvin, the Artemis Chamber Music Society is a uniquely mixed ensemble featuring both vocal and instrumental repertoire. Through creative and nuanced programming that carefully intertwines art song, solo music, and instrumental ensembles, the ACMS strives to broaden the conventional perception of chamber music.

Artemis recitals weave together new and little-known pieces with famous works, and showcases the individual talents of the core members and guest performers both as soloists and collaborators. Audience education and informed listening are key elements of Artemis performances.

Although the ACMS is not a female-only ensemble, Cook and Lvin strive to solidify the place of women in the classical music world as founders, directors, leaders, and the finest performers of some of the most virtuosic and powerful music. As the Society grows in membership and recognition, it seeks to share programs with new audiences, venues, and other collaborative ensembles.
